CCC TaskForce, what’s it all about?

Feb 2, 2024

Caring Community Corner

Every day in our community a CCC Taskforce Volunteer is doing something to make another community members’ life a little better, or easier. You may have heard of this group of lovely people, and you may even have thought about joining the TaskForce. In this article, we aim to give you a deeper appreciation of what the TaskForce is – and isn’t – to bust a few myths and to hopefully inspire you to join up!

Friends and neighbours helping friends and neighbours

Basically TaskForce members are community members who have time, resources and the good will to help out another community member in need.In other words, caring neighbours!

What‘s the focus of the help?

All requests from community members need to be around health and social care, and mental and emotional health and wellbeing, fitting the remit of the CCC. The requests vary from simple to to quite complex and may involve giving someone a lift to a health centre appointment, making meals, taking the time to sit with someone and talk to them over a cup of tea, nature outings, walks, socialising to reduce loneliness/isolation, or providing end of life care.

As the song, ‘What’s it all about, Alfie? goes, “I believe in love, Alfie. Without true love we just exist … ”

What‘s the role of the CC Coordinator and Coordinator Assistant and the TaskForce?

Laura and Jane work supporting individual community members means they know when they have a need or request. Laura and Jane connect community members with Taskforce members by putting out a request for help. This is done in a WhatsApp group.

How easy is it to join the CCC TaskForce?

Very! You simply contact Laura Shreenan, Caring Community Coordinator (details below). You will need to sign a simple Confidentiality Agreement. We trust TaskForce members to be people of their word and we hope to never hear a TaskForce Volunteer talking about a community member’s private information outside of the TaskForce if that information isn’t already out there in the public domain.

Once you’ve signed the Confidentiality Agreement, you will be added to and welcomed to the TF WhatsApp Group and in there you can respond to any requests. There is no pressure, do what you can when you can!

Many hands make Love work!

Please contact Laura if you’d like to sign up or have a chat about joining! We are always looking to welcome new TaskForce Volunteers so that we can respond to the diversity and variety of humanity in our vibrant and beautiful community.

With Big Love and Gratitude for our amazing TaskForce Volunteers and to all of you who help our community to be a more caring one,
Laura, Jane, Susie and the CCC Team
